My comments on others

Hi Marcella. I like the way you think and rate the book. As you mentioned you didn't rate the book for 5 Hi, Marstar because you didn’t appreciate Cross’ arrogant attitude and you think the disrespects wore on your patience. This is a good review to tell the readers that you have a faith in respects and spread your moral standards. Most people rate the book regard to the plot movement or writing description etc. You do have a good sense and I see much more common with you. Many readers criticize a book or movie because the author brought a bad character or what they say is spreading a bad morality but what I see is the author made a good character. Because you get to hate the characters only if you believe in it or indulge in the book.

Also, you have your "impression before start", "plot", "characters" and "last note". "Impression before start" is really new and surprised. That makes a good review because the change of impression, later on, may surprise you. For now, what I see is a good planed review and I want to see more your opinions.

I comment on Tracy’s website but I forgot to copy the comment, and it didn’t get approved. So I just created a new comment as below.

I have read your proposal; I think you have clear thoughts of what to write about and it’s a challenging topic. I was meant to comment on your proposal, but you didn’t leave a comment section. Learning a second language through online resources or translation apps is a good idea, but I think this translation approach is quite hard to remember what you have learned. Some people usually forgot the vocabulary once they finished researching and some just need to read many times to get it remembered. Because the translation, dictionary or any other kind of online language resources has limited images, that’s why it’s quite hard to remember. Some of them might provide examples with how to use the vocabulary properly, but it’s just not fun to remember it. There is some interesting video teaching Chinese with images, and that's easy to learn. I think to watch a Chinese drama or TV show is helping for learning Chinese as well, especially when you found a drama that you loved the most, you will remember the specific lines from the drama. Translation sites are just kind of tedious with loads of readings and people are easy to lose their interests. But this is just my opinion. You mentioned to do a critique on Taiwanese Talk Show; I think that’s a great idea. Since you said they are not native speakers, they do have a strong Taiwanese accent; their accents might influence your pronunciation. So I recommend you also to do a critique on a proper Chinese Talk show, you can compare them, and it will help you with the pronunciation.

The idea of doing a website about learning sign language is fantastic! I love your site design, especially the picture on your homepage. I would interpret the two palms as the way to represent the sign language, and you also have one heart on each hand. That would make a symbol for sign language to be beautiful to express love in a silent world. And the butterflies in your home page and proposal, they were another symbol for sign language to represent sign language. I just found out when we click the butterfly on your homepage; it will link to a page of what is butterfly effect to deaf people. Because butterflies do not have the sound in their world, they express themselves with their bodies and legs, and deaf people use their hands. After reading your proposal and your weekly posts, I think your website is fabulous. Especially when you can just complete your site with your learning outcomes, you also chose to include the video of how your approach your topic. I think in your video if you can add the communication between you and your friends in sign language. That will be excellent.

I must say your topic is fascinating. I have never thought about reflecting my own history. Because I never tried to face the problems that once I had, I tried just to avoid them. I used to be bullied by the guys at the primary school, the middle school, and high school. I have not been bullied since I got into university. I am not lying, the guys just punched me in my face, and some of them just slapped me. What I knew is they just think I acted like a weaker and what they describe me was “you fucking girly man.” I never tried to face the problems because I never wanted to think that will be my problems, I think I should be accepted like everyone else. I think I can relate to your blog and I really like your blog, it was like to read my history. I think your blog encourages me to face my problems as I can reflect on it. I can’t think of any better suggestion to your blog because I think your blog was the number one blog in my heart. I wish you the best to be a better person and never encounter any bullies or difficulties in your life.

When I was reading your blog, I was shocked. I could only say, “Oh my god, this girl is crazy!” Fabulous blog, fabulous dessert, and fabulous photographs. I love your idea of baking along with the history, it is like to learn how to bake and learn the history at the same time. I would love to challenge myself with different tasks, but your topic is too challenging and I am surprised that you handled it very well. I think your blog is already perfect, but I would like to see a video of how you bake these beautiful and tasty desserts.

It is a challenging task that you have chosen; I think you know what you could do to accomplish your task. Translating a language is hard because certain words cannot be found in the English version.  I think when you finished the translation of the song, you could leave a link to the song.  I think you did an excellent job on your blog, it just the comic’s translation left some regrets with the white spaces because some of the sentences that you placed in the dialogue boxes are too small. So I found it strange with too many white areas with small typefaces.
